What is Sildenafil Citrate?
Sildenafil citrate is the active compound behind the well-known brand Viagra. It was developed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It's one of the most widely used and recognised medicines in the world for this purpose.

How Does It Work?
Sildenafil blocks an enzyme called PDE5, which normally restricts blood flow in certain areas of the body. By blocking this enzyme, blood vessels relax and blood flow increases. This makes it easier to achieve and maintain an erection when sexually aroused.
What It's Used For
- Treating erectile dysfunction (ED) in men
- Improving confidence and sexual performance
- Sometimes used off-label to support blood flow during intense physical activity
What to Expect
Sildenafil typically starts working within 30–60 minutes of taking it. Effects can last for up to 4–6 hours. Sexual stimulation is still needed — it won't cause an erection on its own.
Possible Side Effects
- Headaches and flushing
- Nasal congestion or runny nose
- Dizziness or low blood pressure, especially when combined with nitrates
Cycle & Dosage Notes
Sildenafil is taken on an as-needed basis, not as a daily cycle like performance-enhancing compounds. The standard starting dose is 50mg, adjustable to 25mg or 100mg based on response. It should not be combined with nitrate medications due to the risk of a serious drop in blood pressure.
Storage
Keep at room temperature (15–25°C), away from light and moisture. Leave in the original packaging.
