HCG is a hormone that occurs naturally in the human body. It was originally developed as a fertility treatment for both men and women. In performance and fitness circles, it's widely used to support hormone recovery after a steroid cycle.

How Does It Work?

HCG mimics luteinizing hormone (LH), which is the signal your brain sends to the testes to produce testosterone. During a steroid cycle, natural LH production shuts down, which causes the testes to shrink and stop working. HCG steps in and keeps that signal going, or helps restart it after the cycle ends.

What It's Used For

• Preventing testicular atrophy during a steroid cycle
• Restarting natural testosterone production as part of post-cycle therapy (PCT)
• Supporting fertility treatment in men with low testosterone or poor sperm production

What to Expect

Most men notice a recovery in testicular size fairly quickly after starting HCG. Natural testosterone levels begin to rise as the testes respond to the hormone signal. It works best when used strategically — either during a cycle to maintain function or right before PCT to prime the body for recovery.

Possible Side Effects

• Water retention and bloating
• Increased oestrogen levels, which can cause gynecomastia if not managed
• Mood changes or irritability at higher doses

Cycle & Dosage Notes

A common approach is 500iu twice per week during a cycle to prevent shutdown, or 2500iu every other day for 2–3 weeks leading into PCT. HCG is not typically used alone for PCT — it works best alongside a SERM like Nolvadex or Clomid. Always use the lowest effective dose to avoid desensitising the testes to LH.
