What is Exemestane (Aromasin)?

Exemestane is an aromatase inhibitor originally developed to treat breast cancer in women. In performance and bodybuilding circles, it's used to control oestrogen levels during or after a steroid cycle. It works by blocking the enzyme that converts testosterone into oestrogen.

How Does It Work?

Exemestane permanently binds to the aromatase enzyme and stops it from working. This means less testosterone in the body gets converted into oestrogen. Lower oestrogen levels help prevent water retention, gynecomastia, and other oestrogen-related side effects during a cycle.

What to Expect

You can expect noticeably reduced water retention and a harder, leaner look when oestrogen is kept in check. It helps protect against gynecomastia during cycles that include aromatising compounds. Keep in mind that crashing oestrogen too low can cause joint pain, low mood, and loss of libido, so dosing carefully matters.

Cycle & Dosage Notes

A common approach is 12.5 mg every other day during a cycle, adjusting based on how you feel and bloodwork results. Exemestane can also be used during PCT alongside a SERM such as Nolvadex. Avoid using it alongside other aromatase inhibitors as this can suppress oestrogen too aggressively.
